After years of physical, mental, and verbal abuse, I was able to finally get out of my marriage.  It took me years to overcome the abuse, but still have problems in certain areas.  I was finally able to get a career in law enforcement as a correctional officer in a maximum security prison... after four years, during an inmate takedown I was severely injured (concussion, torn ligaments in my neck and shoulder blade, & a fractured & dislocated sternum that cannot be fixed) leaving me with chronic pain (been to many specialists and have been told I will have chronic pain for at least another ten years), and unable to work.  I am wanting to move to California where my grandmother (she is also my best friend) lives.  She needs my help to try and fix up her house.  She has lived there since 1954, a survivor of the Holocaust, she put herself through college not knowing any English, and raised two children on her own.  She is elderly now, and can't do the work on her house alone, with no one else to help her.  Her roof needs redone, the windows are rotting (the wood), she hasn't been able to use her kitchen sink in almost two years, her ceiling in her bathroom is gone (from her brother coming years ago to redo it and never came back to finish), her furnace doesn't work, and many other things in the house needs repair.  She lives on social security so she can't do it herself.  I am wanting to move down there to help her, maybe find some resources to help her get her house repaired and back to good shape.  But with not being able to work, and not recieving any income from anywhere, I am finding it hard to get the funds to get down there.  It is just myself and my little girl, and I want her to meet her great grandmother.  I need help just getting to California... I only need about $1000.00-$1500.00 to get us down there (gas, hotel, trailer, etc).  With my chronic pain, it is hard for me to drive long distances without having to stop and rest for a few hours, so will need to stay in maybe three hotels on the way down there.  If ANYONE can help us, PLEASE let me know!!  My grandmother means the WORLD to me, and I have never been able to afford to go there so it has been MANY years since I have seen her.  But although I haven't seen her in years, there hasn't been a week that we haven't talked on the phone.  She knows I am trying to get there, and she calls everyday to see if I have found a way.  It would be a blessing to be able to tell her I am on my way.  Please, anyone that can help, ANY help would be appreciated!!!!  Thank you ahead of time....
